Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the degree recognized?
Absolutely. Our B.Arch and M.Arch programs are affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and approved by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi.
Do I need to be a pro at drawing to apply?
Not at all. We look for thinkers and doodlers. While entrance exams like NATA or JEE Paper 2 are required for B.Arch as per regulations, our Design Lab is where we help you sharpen your technical skills from scratch.
What exactly are these Labs (Thinking, Construction, Design)?
We’ve moved away from boring, isolated subjects.
Thinking Lab is where you understand why people need space.
Construction Lab is the how-to of materials and science.
Design Lab is the heart of the institute, where you bring it all together to create. It’s an integrated way of learning that mirrors how real architects work.
Is it all work and no play?
Definitely not. As our Principal, Ms. Poorva, says: College is way beyond academics. From midnight studio debates and cultural fests to sports on the court, life at Brick is a vibe. We celebrate creative chaos and deep friendships.
What is the Design and Project Management (DPM) focus in the M.Arch?
The world doesn’t just need people who can draw; it needs leaders who can execute. Our M.Arch (DPM) bridges the gap between creative design and real-world project execution, preparing you for leadership roles in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry.
Tell me more about the MS in Sustainable Design with Thomas Jefferson University (USA).
This is a game-changer. You start your Year 1 at Brick (Pune) via a hybrid model, saving on costs, and then move to Philadelphia, USA, for Year 2. You graduate with a US degree and qualify for a 3-year STEM OPT (work permit) in the States.
Where do Brick alumni end up?
Everywhere. From launching their own firms to being recruited by top international design houses. Our theme is From Brick to the World. Our 10,000+ alumni network is a massive launchpad for your career.
Who can join the Summer or Winter Schools?
Anyone with a curious mind. These are power-packed, certified courses designed for students (even those not yet in architecture) who want to explore digital tools, sustainability, or design thinking without committing to a 5-year degree immediately.
I’m worried about the workload. Is it really all late-night debates and cup noodles?
Architecture is a demanding craft, but at Brick, the grind is collaborative. Our studios are designed to be second homes. You’ll find that the best ideas often come from a 2:00 AM conversation with a peer or a mentor. We trade stress for passion-driven momentum.
How hands-on is the curriculum?
Hands-on is literally our middle name. You won’t just look at pictures of bricks; you’ll go to sites, handle materials in the Construction Lab, build 3D models in our workshops, and participate in design hackathons. We believe your hands should be as smart as your brain.
Will I get to work on real-world projects before I graduate?
Yes. Between our semester-long practical training, site visits, and the Case-Based Coursework in our M.Arch program, you are constantly interacting with the industry. We have 15+ collaborations and 10+ international partners to ensure you aren’t just student-ready, but industry-ready.
What makes the Interior Design (B.Des) program different from a standard diploma?
Most courses teach you how to pick furniture; we teach you how to tell stories through space. By integrating our Lab-based model (Design, Construction, and Tools), we ensure you understand the structural soul of a room, not just the aesthetic surface.
Is Brick just for people from Pune?
Not at all. While we love our Pune sun, we are a melting pot. With 1,000+ students on campus, we celebrate diversity in every fest and project. You’ll build a network of friends and future colleagues that spans the entire country and the globe.
Can I pursue my other passions (like sports or music) while studying architecture?
We actually insist on it. As our leadership says, we want to create leaders, not just drafters. Whether it’s flexing your muscles on the sports court or showcasing your talent at a campus fest, your extracurriculars are what make your design perspective unique.
